DIES AT CORYDON
Mrs. Wm. Hoegh, 76, a resident of Chariton for the past 30 years, died Monday morning at the Wayne County hospital in Corydon after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m., at the Beardsley Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Carlson officiating. Interment will be at the Chariton cemetery.
She was an active member of the Lutheran church in Chariton and earlier in life had been especially active in other communities where the family resided.
Mrs. Hoegh's husband preceded her in death. He had been active in the founding of the Federal Land Bank system in 1917. The couple moved to Chariton from Audubon in 1933 when the National Farm Loan Association was formed here during an expansion of the federal system. He was the first secretary-treasurer of the local association, now headed by the couple's son, Theodore.
The other surviving son, Leo, is administrator of the Office of Civil Defense and Mobilization, and a member of the President's cabinet. He is a former attorney general and Governor of Iowa.
In addition to sons, Theodore N. of Williamson and Leo A. of Washington, D.C., she is survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are three brothers, James K. Johnson of Audubon, Hans J. Johnson of Portland, Ore., N. H. Johnson of Atlantic, and a sister, Miss Marie K. Johnson of Elk Horn.
