Laura Josephine Smith was born March 25, 1845 at Zanesville, Ohio and departed this life, Sept. 9, 1923 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Chain of Omaha, aged 83 years, 5 months and 15 days.
She was united in marriage to Robert R. Williams, Dec. 31, 1863. To this union was born six children: Mrs. A.E. Benedict of Sioux City, Iowa; Eugene C. Williams of Stillwater, Minn., deceased; Mrs. Frank Chain of Omaha; Russel R Williams of Venice, Calif.; Mrs. B.W. Goldwater of Phoenix, Ariz; and Mrs. S.W. Thompson of Alliance. There are also fourteen grand children and six great grand children left to mourn their loss.
She was converted and united with the Free Will Baptist church at the age of eighteen, afterward she transferred her membership to the Presbyterian church of which she was a member at the time of her death.
The husband, Robert R. Williams, passed away June 30, 1916 at McCool Jct., where they were making their home. They were well and favorably known to the residents of McCool and vicinity.
The body was brought to McCool Juntion and funeral services were held at U.B. church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.R. Simpkins. Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery southwest of McCool.
Mr. and Mrs. Williams lived in Exeter many years and had a wide circle of acquaintances here. They were active in the Congregational Church and fraternity circles. Their last home was in the house now owned by John Finn. The grapevine arbor....(Torn paper) as he was familiarly ....(Torn paper) the yard west of the ....(Torn paper) most attractive.
