Mr. Bowers was born in Carroll County, August 15, 1877 to the late John Henry Bowers and wife, Mrs. Malinda Jennings Bowers.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Bowers; six sons, Harden Bowers, Ivanhoe, Henry Bowers, Ypsilanti, Mich. Joe Bowers and Walter Bowers, both of Fieldale; Forrest Bowers, Ashtabula, Ohio, and James Albert Bowers, Jr., San Fernando, Calif.; seven daughters, Mrs. Rachel Linville and Mrs. Catherine Jones, both of Fries, Mrs. Ollie Rotenberry, Galax, and Mrs. Carlen Ayers, Mrs. Hattie Spraker, Mrs. Audrey Blair and Miss Juanita Bowers all of Ivanhoe; one brother, Harvey Bowers, Galax; one stepson, Herman Lineberry, Fries; two step-daughters, Mrs. Irene Perry, Lynchburg, Mrs. Iola Galliazzo, Ashtabula, Ohio; 48 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at Fairview Methodist Church, on the Fries circuit, Friday at 11 a.m., by the Rev. C. P. Beasley.
Interment will be in the Newman cemetery.
The body is at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home and will be removed to the church one hour before the services.
