James Wilkerson Ahart

One of the older life-time county residents, James Wilkerson Ahart, 82, died in a local hospital Thursday, Oct. 15. He was born at Fairplay July 7, 1872.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Emma Ahart of Placerville, he is survived by twelve children, Mrs. Hazel Lee and Mrs. Bertha Williams of Diamond Springs, Mrs. Rose Pratt of Camino, Mrs. Rita Gordon of Sacramento, Mrs. Daisy Jenkins of Lodi, Fred Ahart. Harry Ahart and Mrs. Elsie Wilhoyte of Fresno, Bill Ahart of Sutter Creek, J. B. Ahart of Sterling City, Henry Ahart of Colton, and Cecil Ahart of San Rafael.
Ahart was the brother of Mrs. James Barkley of Camino, Mrs. Pat Garcia of Tracy, Mrs. Elizabeth McCreary of San Leandro and Mrs. Ida B. Meyers of Pleasant Valley.
In addition, he is survived by 41 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Memory Chapel, Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. John Dunlop officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Valley cemetery.
