From the Bartow Co., GA genweb site in an article from "The Courant American" Newspaper, Cartersville, Georgia, April 30, 1896: "A Good Citizen Gone. Death of Mr. D. L. Dodd, at Euharlee, last week." Mr. D. L. Dodd, a well known citizen of Euharlee, died at his home on last Monday evening, 20 th instant, after a short illness. Mr. Dodd was born in South Carolina, December 18 th, 1845. He with his parents, came to this country when quite young and has spent since then the majority of his days in Bartow county. He was married when a young man to a Miss Lizzie Barrett, of Kingston, who preceded him in death about eight years ago. He leaves but one child to survive him. When a lad of 18 years, Mr. Dodd embraced religion and joined the church and was until his death a very model man. His funeral rites were solemnized at the Euharlee Baptist church, the day following his death, by Revs. Jenkins and Hamiter, both of Euharlee. It was without pageantry or display, but was a very appropriate tribute of honor to the dead. It was attended by a large concourse of people. His remains were interred in the Presbyterian church cemetery, where the dust of his once happy and noble consort reposes.
On several visits to the cemetery, I was unable to locate a headstone for Dickson, but did locate his wife and children's headstones.
