Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Jun 4 2003 - Ena Gregory, 93, Lewis Station, went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2003, at the Dallas County Care Center, Buffalo. She was born October 19, 1909, in Mt. View, daughter of Jacob A. Trowbridge and Nancy (Roberts) Trowbridge. She married Gerald Gregory on July 29, 1930, and to this union 11 children were born. She lived her life raising her children and keeping her home. Ena accepted the Lord as her Savior in early adulthood while attending what she liked to refer to as a brush harbor camp meeting. She followed the Lord in Baptism shortly thereafter at an outdoor baptismal service. She never wavered in her walk with the Lord studying His word and guiding her children in paths of truth. She loved to write poetry and some of her poems were published earlier on. Ena's hobby was raising plants and flowers and she knew the names of any and all plants she came in contact with. She was also an avid quilter, making many beautiful quilts over her lifetime, lovingly stitching by hand each piece until the quilt was completed, then passing them on to her large family. Ena had a generous and caring heart, not only for her family but for all she saw in need, giving as the Lord directed and keeping always in her heart that great commandment, "That you love one another as I have loved you." Though she is now gone, she will live on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, whom she deeply loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; one daughter, Melba Jean; her father and mother, Jacob and Nancy Trowbridge, as well as nine brothers and eight sisters. Ena is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Juanita and Louis Denton, Buffalo, another daughter, Dorothy Gregory, Clinton; eight sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Helen Gregory of Willow springs, James and Carolyn Gregory of Willow Springs, Marvin and Patricia Gregory of Mt. Vernon, Herbert and Cathy Gregory of Aurora, Larry and Katie Gregory of Edwards, Kenneth Gregory of Pueblo, Colorado, Ivan and Sherri Gregory of Kansas City and Mike Gregory of Clinton; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving her is a sister-in-law, Mary Owens, West Plains, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Vansant-Mills Chapel on Wednesday, May 14. Burial was in the Calhoun Cemetery.
