Mrs. Whiteman, whose home was in Geneva,spent the winter months with her children. She had been in fairly good health, but had suffered a gall stone attack from which she seemed to be recovering satisfactorily. She was sitting up Sunday morning when she suddenly became critical and died almost before she could be gotten to the couch.
The deceased was a lifelong resident of this community. She was born in Jay county May 9, 1871, a daughter of Bolser and Emelia Kraner Gierhart. When a young woman she was married to Orlando Whiteman who preceded her in death in 1925.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Meade (Edna) Aspy of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Clarence (Edith) Potter , of Garrett, and Mrs. J. L. Payne, of Melrose, N. Mex., and a son, Harland J. Whiteman of Muncie. Two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive, and a sister, Mrs. Emma Butcher, of Bryant. Besides the husband, one daughter, Dondeena, preceded her in death.
The body was brought to the Hardy & Hardy Funeral Home in Geneva where funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The pastor from Garrett officiated, assisted by Rev.
