Ivan Eugene Eccles, 83, died Sept. 30, 2004, in Klamath Falls after a short battle against cancer.

Mr. Eccles was born in Portland to Delbert and Anna (Fosse) Eccles.

He graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1939.
He joined the National Guard 249th Coast Artillery in September 1940 and was stationed at Ft. Stevens in Oregon and later at the 13th Armored 45th Headquarters in Texas.

He next went to Germany where he served for six months prior to being honorably discharged on Oct. 5, 1945, at Camp Cooke in California.

He married Shirley Mattson in Longview, Wash., on Oct. 27, 1942.

After his military service, Mr. Eccles returned home and was owner/ manager of Beacon Mobile Service Station for 43 years and East Main Brake & Alignment.

He reitred in 1988 to further enjoy his hobbies of golfing, hunting, fishing and travel.

He was a member of Reames Golf & Country Club for 38 years and a life member of the Elks Lodge, 20-30 Club, Veterans of Foregn Wars, American Legion, Y.M.C.A. and A.A.R.P. He also sponsored the American Legion and Babe Ruth League basball teams in Klamath Falls.

His church affiliation was Lutheran.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Eccles of Klamath Falls; son Terry Eccles of John Day; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Marshall and Linda and Jim McDonald of Klamath Falls; son and daughter-in-law Steve and Marsha Eccles of Klamath Falls; grandchildren Trevor and Tanner Eccles, Jeremy and Tiffany Marshall, Riley and Aubrey Eccles, and Matt, Niki and Marcus McDonald; aunt Mabel Jeter of Olympia, Wash; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Kay Eccles of Klamath Falls and Wes and Pat Eccles of Eugene; sister and brother-in-law Bertha and Joe Wachter of Klamath Falls; numerous nieces and nephews.
