Nue W. Turnipseed

Mrs. Nue Wimbish , 91, died Sunday, October 3, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at 10:00 A.M. at Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church with the funeral service following at 12:00 noon with Rev. Robert Allen and Rev. David Ard officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Turnipseed was a retired secretary with the State Department of Education and the widow of Malcolm Russell Wimbish, Sr. and John W. Turnipseed. She was a member and former Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church where she was also instrumental in organizing and actively involved in the Jail Ministry. She was a member of the Skipwith Historical and Genealogical Society and a former member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Pilot Club of Oxford, the Woman's Forum and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 88 where she was Past Worthy Matron. A memorable event in Nue's life was when she and her young daughter, Sandra, were among the first group of military families to travel to Europe during the time of occupation to join her husband, Capt. Wimbish who was serving in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Sebren and her husband, William of Tullahoma, TN; one son, Malcolm R. Wimbish, Jr. and his wife, Paula of Clinton, MS; two step-daughters, Sue Harral of Seabrook, TX and Richie Ard and her husband, David of Oxford, MS; five grandchildren, Stephanie Beck of Austin, TX, Shawn Jones of Huntsville, AL, Suzanne Leopold of Manassas, VA, Rus Wimbish of Brooklyn, NY and Jennie Wimbish of New Orleans, LA; five step-grandchildren, Michele Reguera, Mary Leigh Harral, Ashley Harral all of Houston, TX, Lori Gardner of Oxford and Mandy Arman of Little Rock, AR; seven great grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren.
