REV. FINAS HILL
The REV. Finas "Bud" Arlin Hill, 65, of Route 1, Haysi, passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, West Dante.
Born in Haysi, he was the son of the Draten and Roma Deel Hill. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Kemit, Paul, Darrell, and Mack Hill.
He was a minister in the Dickenson County Conference for 22 years. He was a member of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church in Haysi and Pastor of Phillips Chapel freewill Baptist Church in West Dante.
REV. Hill was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Clintwood Masonic Lodge No. 66 of Clintwood, a Shriner and a member of the Haysi Kiwanis Club.
He worked for Chevrolet's Warren, Mich., plant for 14 years, a member of UAW Local No. 909. He worked for Island Creek Coal Comoany's No. 1 mine for 19 years and was a member of UMWA Local No. 1509. Finas was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Kathy Hill; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Karl Hogston of Haysi; a grandson, Daniel (D. J.) Hogston of Haysi; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amanda and Bobby Perrigan of Haysi; and great-granddaughter, Alexandria Perrigan of Haysi; brothers, Earl Hill of Canton, Mich., and Marvin Hill of Abingdon; sisters, Mary Round and Belleville, Mich., and Mae Bowman of Big Stone Gap; and a host of nieces and nephew.
Services will be conducted at 1 p. m. Wednesday at Haysi Funeral Home with the REV. Danny Sluss, the REV. Remire Mullins, and the REV. Gary Stanley officiating. Burial will follow in the Hill Family Cemetery, Route 1, Haysi.
Pallbearers will be Karl Hogston, D. J. Hogston, Bobby Perrigan, Ron Round, Mike Round, Norman Newsome, Darrell Owens, and Jeff Hill.
Honary pallbearers will be Onis Hogston, Deacons of Splashdam Freewill Baptist Church, Elmer Williamson, and ministers of the Dickenson County and New Durham Conferences.
Haysi Funeral Home is in Charge of arrangements.
