Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the ward house for Frederick Anderson Sr. 74 years of age, who died Tuesday after a prolonged illness due to ulcers of the stomach and complications. The Speakers were Elders
R. C. Miller and O. J. Anderson, and President Lars P. Oveson. Mrs. L.T. Hunter sang a solo and Sam Zwahlen and Joseph Jameson gave a duet in addition to several numbers by the choir. Elder Andrew Anderson - of Orange offered the opening prayer, Elder Carl Berg the closing prayer, and Elder James Jensen of Fountain Green dedicated the grave. The deceased had lived a long life of faithful service to his church and the community and the speakers all dwelt on this fact and urged emulation of the father's example to the large family of children. Six of the seven sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers.
The deceased was born August 29, 1850 in the city of Aarhus, Denmark. Corning to Utah, he was married April 5, 1875, to Anna Johannah Christiansen, the ceremony being performed in Salt Lake City. They come to Castle Dale from Fountain Green being among the first called settle this valley. Following the calling of a farmer he raised his family to maturity in a most creditable manner and last April he and his good wife, with all of the children and most of the grandchildren gathered together, celebrated their golden wedding. Surviving the deceased are his widow and the following children: Fred jr., Mrs. Anna Clawson, Joe, Mrs. Hannah Hammelwright, Mrs. Dean Vance, Mrs. Emma Adams, James, Niels, Parley, Ervin, and Lee: also one brother, Rasmus Andersen of Provo.
