Last rites for Carrie G Calhoun, 76, longtime Bellevue resident, were held Friday at Wood River Chapel. She died July 5 at the Extended Care Unit at Blaine County Medical Center where she had been hospitalized for a long illness.

Mrs. Calhoun was born April 20, 1907 in Kahlouts, Wash., where she was reared. She married Leon O Calhoun on April 16, 1926. They came to Bellevue to make their home in 1937.

Carrie was a lady with special talent in the art medium. Her oil paintings were very lovely and, in addition, her artistic ability took many other forms. Until ill health overcame her at quite an early age, she was active in community and school affairs and served the Bellevue P.T.A. in several capacities. She was an active member of Mayflower Rebekah Lodge No. 41, Bellevue, as long as she was able.

The past several years she had been lovingly cared for at home by her husband, Lee, who survives her at Bellevue. Other survivors are three son, Wayne D Calhoun, Little, Colo., Loren L Calhoun, Burley, and Ray Calhoun, Bellevue; two daughters, Lorena R Genero, Renton, Wash., and Janet Dabnar, Anchorage, Alaska; one sister, Pansy St Clair, Bridgeport, Ore.; 22 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Calhoun, and by seven brothers.

The services were conducted by Cathern Kohler, noble grand of Mayflower Rebekah Lodge, who was assisted by Emma Albrethsen and Roberta McKercher.

"The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer" were sung by Cheryl Benner, who was accompanied by Delores Lowder on the piano. The prelude and postlude of selected hymns were played by Mrs. McKercher.

Bret Davidson, a grandson, and Meri Calhoun, a granddaughter, read thoughts especially chosen for the service.

Honorary bearers included Tom Barratt Jr, Jerry Calhoun, Randy Calhoun, Tim Davidson, Bret Davidson, Jason Calhoun and Dustin Calhoun.
The family has suggested that memorials be made to the Extended Care Unit at Blaine County Meidcal Center.
