FUNERAL FOR DR. D. M. WIGGINS' MOTHER AT CANADIAN THURSDAY

Funeral for Mrs. Robert Bruce WIGGINS, 83, of Canadian, mother of Dr. D. M. WIGGINS of Lubbock, has been scheduled for Thursday afternoon in the First Baptist Church at Canadian.

She died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hendrick Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for three weeks.

Mrs. WIGGINS became ill while she was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Marvin LEWIS, 1301 Highland Avenue. Another son, Darrell WIGGINS of Canadian, also survives.

Dr. D. M. WIGGINS is well known in West Texas as a former professor and dean of students at Hardin-Simmons University. He is past president of the former Texas College of Mines in El Paso (now Texas Western College) and of Texas Technological College in Lubbock. He is now executive vice president of the Citizens National Bank in Lubbock.

Mrs. WIGGINS was born March 2, 1871 in Carthage, Mississippi. It was there that she married Robert Bruce WIGGINS. They moved to Canadian in 1905. Mr. WIGGINS died about seven months ago.

Mrs. WIGGINS was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Canadian, and belonged to the Canadian Pioneer Club and the Women's Club.

Survivors, other than those mentioned, include three grandchildren, Mrs. William G. KIKER, 1041 Westridge Drive, Mrs. Robert DILLMAN of Canadian and Mrs. Reuel NASH of Austin; and four great-grandchildren.
