OBITUARY OF BETTY GERTRUDE WIEBE

Three persons are dead as a result of a car accident on August 25, 1967 about fourteen miles west of Johnson, Kansas.

Dead are Mr. and Mrs. J. B. WIEBE, of Perryton, and Mr. WIEBE's grandson, Leon BALZER, 17, of Dallas, Oregon.

The three were enroute to Oregon at the time of the accident occurred. They were driving behind a truck and in some manner failed to put on their brakes soon enough, or the brakes failed to hold, and they ran in under the truck.

Mrs. WIEBE, 49, was killed instantly from head injuries; the boy died on the way to a hospital at Syracuse, Kansas; and Mr. WIEBE, 76, died at the Syracuse hospital.

Mrs. WIEBE was born on February 10, 1897, at Hillsboro, Texas. She was married to the late Joe ROWLEY in 1916. Mr. ROWLEY was killed while at work on the highway between Glazier and Canadian in 1936.

Funeral Services were held for her at the First Methodist Church. Burial was made in the Canadian Cemetery, Pallbearers were Frank COLE, Marion SMITH, Lyman BARBEE, Bud HARDIN and Ed LITTLE.

Gertie WIEBE is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. WHITE of Fort Sumner, New Mexico; by two daughters, Mrs. Helen VAN WANT and Mrs. Vivian WEBB, both of Borger; by the following brothers and sisters; John and Bill WHITE, and Mrs. Bessie MORRIS, all of Canadian; Carl WHITE of Fort Sumner; Milton WHITE of Earth, Texas; Charlie WHITE of Dumas; Mary BOUCOX of Texaco; Mrs. Stella MATCHER of Portales, New Mexico; and Mrs. Bertha JONES of Amarillo; other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. WIEBE was a longtime resident of the Perryton area and is survived by eight children.

The body of Leon BALZER was shipped to his parents in Oregon for funeral services and burial.

FUNERAL SERVICES OF MRS. J. B. WIEBE

Funeral Services were held at the Methodist church in Canadian on Thursday, August 28, for Mrs. J. B. WIEBE, who was killed in an automobile wreck near Syracuse, Kansas August 25.

Rev. Joe E. Boyd conducted the final services.

Pallbearers were Frank COLE, Hub HEXT, Lyman BARBEE, M. H . SMITH, D. V. HARDIN and Ed LITTLE.

Mrs. WIEBE was born on February 10, 1897 at Hillsboro, Texas. She was married to the late Joe ROWLEY in 1916. Mr. ROWLEY was killed in 1936 in a highway accident between Glazier and Canadian.

In March, 1943, she married Mr. WIEBE, also dead from the accident August 25.

Girtie WIEBE is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. J. WHITE, Fort Sumner, New Mexico; two daughters, Mrs. Helen VAN ZANT and Mrs. Vivian WEBB, both of Borger; five sisters, Mrs. J. JONES, Amarillo, Mrs. Bessie MORRIS, Canadian, Mrs. Mel MATCHEN, Portales, New Mexico, Mrs. Lloyd BOCOX, Clovis, and Miss Pearl WHITE, Ft. Sumner, New Mexico; four brothers, John WHITE, Canadian, Charles WHITE, Dumas, Ernest WHITE, Canadian, Melton WHITE, Muleshoe; and five grandchildren.

Interment was in the Canadian Cemetery.
