Mrs. Cardwell was the daughter of Jacob and Susan BOURNE STIPE. She married Madison Matthew CARDWELL on Oct. 13, 1836 in Lewis County, Missouri. He died Feb. 25, 1849 in the Mississippi River between IL and MO, and is said to be buried somewhere in St. Louis in April of that year.
Mrs. Cardwell united with Dover Baptist Church in 1843. There were six daughters born to Hannah and Madison.
