Born November 28, 1922 in Glynn County Georgia to the late James O. and Mamie Brantley Bartlett, het was a retired Chemist with Robbins AFB. He was a US Army Air Force Veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater as an Aircraft Mechanic and Gunner. Mr. Bartlett was a graduate of Mercer University receiving a Bachelors Degree in Science, Biology and Chemistry. He also attended Texas A&M. He was a member of College Place United Methodist Church and attended the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was also a member of DAV of the Golden Isles Chapter 36, an avid fisherman, and an accomplished pianist. He enjoyed gemstones and gem cutting and making jewelry as well as golf and carpentry. He was a devoted husband father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, James O. Barltett, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jackie Bartlett of Brunswick, a son, Joel Bartlett of Brunswick, a grandson, Spencer Bartlett and a granddaughter, Abby Bartlett, a niece, Patricia Bartlett, a nephew, James R. Bartlett and wife Beverly, and a sister in law, Lucille Bartlett of Bethesda, MD.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon October 6, 2010 at College Place United Methodist Church from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour.
