ELIZABETH JONES FITE
Last Member of Pioneer Family of this County; Went West Nine Years Ago – Mrs. Elizabeth Jones Fite, wife of L. D. Fite, died at the family home at Granite, Okla., Sunday morning, October 13th, at 1:30 a.m. after four days serious illness, age about 69 years. The deceased was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was loved by all who knew her. She was born and reared in this county and moved to Oklahoma with the family in 1920 where they have since resided. Beside the husband, Mrs. Fite is survived by six children, three sons and three daughters; the sons are Tom Fite, Ethridge, Tenn., Ernest Fite, Granite, Okla. And Jim Fite, Wichita Falls, Tex.; the daughters, Mrs. Jim Craig, Granite, Okla., Mrs. A. M. Austin, Ocean Grove, N. J., and Mrs. Geo. Turnbull, Riverside, Calif. She is also survived by one half brother, T. J. Rochelle of this place. Burial was at Granite, on Tuesday of last week according to word received by relatives here. The many friends of the family in Lewis County extend sympathy to the bereaved family in the loss of mother who was familiarly known to her many friends here as "Aunt Bettie" and who was loved as a mother by all who knew her.
