Her husband established his law practice in St. Louis . For 25 years, she lived the circumspect wife of a federal judge. In 1888 the couple built a grand mansion at one of St. Louis' finest addresses, #25 Westmoreland Place. In 1923 they sold it to the mayor of St. Louis and his wife.
