Pioneer Resident Passes On Thursday -

Mrs. William C. Moore, 74, pioneer resident of the state, and who has lived in Alex since 1917, passed on Thursday morning at her home here after several years of invalidism as a result of liver and stomach ailments.

Mrs. Rhoda Margaret (Armstrong) Moore was born August 30, 1860, at Coryell City, Texas. She was the daughter of John Franklin Armstrong and Margaret McCollum Armstrong.

She was married to W. C. Moore December 28, 1876, and to this union were born nine children, seven of whom survive.

They are Mrs. Gertrude Jayroe of Oklahoma City; Mrs. May Walker, Hobart; Mrs. Gussie Edwards, Alex; Marvin, Alex; Dallas, of Independence, MO., Willie and Cleon, also of Independence.

She also leaves, to mourn her loss, her husband, a brother, John Armstrong, of Van Horn, Texas, twenty-nine grand-children, and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Moore came to Oklahoma in 1903, settling at Lone Wolf. In 1917 they came to Alex, and have since resided here.

Mrs. Moore became a Christian early in life, united with the Methodist Episcopal church, living a devoted, consecrated Christian life until her death, May 9, 1935. Her Christian spirit was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was a loyal friend, a true mother, a pure character, and a noble saint. Her crowning virtue was her simple, Christian life. Of late years she has had ill health, and was not able to attend services, but she never lost interest.

May we strive to emulate her amiable disposition and Christian walk, learning to lean upon Him she trusted that we may be prepared to meet her in that home where God's children meet to part no more. Like Saint Paul, she could truly say, "I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith; henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me that day."

In the consciousness of our bereavement we express our deepest sympathy to those of you who were closest to her and who loved her best.

The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. Grady N. Ross conducting the ceremony. Interment was in the beautiful Rose Hill cemetery, at Chickasha.
