Mrs. Anna K. Laymance, who was born in Germany and came to Harriman as a World War 1 bride in 1923; died at 1:10 pm last Thursday at Harriman Hospital.
Mrs. Laymance, 913 Cumberland Street, was the widow of Charles F. Laymance, Harriman, employee at Y-12, Oak Ridge.
Mrs. Laymance was born Anna Kaiser at Koblentz, Germany. She and Mr. Laymance met while he served with the Army of occupation in Germany after World War 1.
He returned to the United States in January of 1923 and she followed in October of that year. They were married upon her arrival in Knoxville before the late Knox County Judge George M. Trodder.
They came to Oakdale where they stayed about two months with her husband's parents and then moved to Harriman where they lived there after. She had been ill for about three months before her death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. last Saturday at Trenton Street Baptist church, with the Rev. O.C. Rainwater and the Rev. Branson C. Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood. Pallbearers were: John Kreis, Reuben Cates, E.M. Price, F.M. Price, A.K. Kelly and John Cooley.
