Allan R. Bussert, 59, of Marshalltown, died Thursday, February 19, 2009, at the
VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, February 24, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be at
Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the
funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Allan Raymond Bussert was born on May 14, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He
was the son of William Joseph and Blanche Alice (Heidelberger) Bussert. In
1968, Allan graduated from Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Missouri.
After high school, he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably
for 2 years. Allan lived in Springfield, Missouri until moving to Marshalltown
in 1991. Allan was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed
waxing and polishing his vehicles, renting movies, soft rock music, flower and
vegetable gardening, and his Siamese cat, Smokey. He was very charitable and
saw the humor in situations. Allan will be missed by his sisters, Sharon
Bussert of Marshalltown, and Carol (Dewayne) Jackson of Republic, Missouri. In
death, he has rejoined his father, William, who died in 1990, his mother, who
died in 1991, and his brother, Ernie, who died in infancy.
