Mr. Blankenship was born March 29,1924, in Pike County, the son of the late Richard and Jetti Hatfield Blankenship. He was a disabled businessman and
minister of Church of God in Jesus' Name.

Surviving are his wife, Bertha Estep Blankenship; four sons, Sam of Prestonsburg, Gene of Columbus, Ohio, Richard (Duffy) of Thelma and Vonalee See of San Jose, California; three daughters, Carl Sue Guffey of Bridgeton,New Jersey, Jettie Sue Fairchild, Thelma and Linda Joyce Collins of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Elmer and Howard, both of Columbus; two
sisters, Lillian Lester of Phelps and Gladys Lambert of McCarr; and 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 7,1997 at Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel, with Opie Harris officiating.

Burial was in Blankenship Family Cemetery at Thelma,Johnson Co.Ky.
