AMBROSE, GA.

George Hubert ‘Bouncer' Smith

Mr. George Hubert "Bouncer" Smith, 85, of Ambrose, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2007, at Coffee Regional Medical Center. Mr. Smith, a native of Turner County, Ga. was born June 28, 1922. He was the son of the late Andrew Jackson and Annie George Strickland Smith. He was a retired bank manager, having been the manager of Douglas Federal Savings & Loan and the Douglas branch of Fulton Federal Savings. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He received his master's degree of art from The University of Georgia and was an accomplished artist and sculptor.

Survivors include his daughters, Kim Johnson and Kelly Smith, Hilton Head Island, S.C., Lyn Smith, Ambrose, Ga.; son, Mark Smith, Ambrose, Ga.; brother, Charles Smith, Adel; nieces, Marsha O'Neal, Georgia Rey and Leslie Hill; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services and interment will be held 11 a.m. today, Aug. 17, 2007, in Douglas City Cemetery in Douglas, Ga. The family received friends at Sims Funeral Home on Thursday.
