William Beal, 79, Passes Away At Rensselaer
William Garfield (Newt) Beal, 79, of Rensselaer died in Jasper ocunty hospital early Wednesday morning. He had been ill a year and in the hospital the last time for a week.
He was born in Remington Sept. 9, 1879, a son of John Newton Beal and Violinda (Moore) Beal. He attended Remington schools. He was married in 1902 to Emma Bull who died in 1913. On Feb. 14, 1945 he was married in Watseka, Ill, to Mayme Sharkey, who survives him. Before coming to Rensselaer Mr. Beal lived in Wolcott and Goodland.
A retired grain dealer, Beal was Goodland postmaster from 1922 to 1931.
Surviving with the widow are; daughter, Mrs. Philip (Manette ) Grant of Lafayette and a sister, Mrs. Floy Raymond of Morro Bay, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Jackson funeral home, Rensselaer. Burial will be in Remington cemetery.
