December 4, 1912

William J. Ahern Dead.

Word was received here yesterday of the death of William J. Ahern, a general contractor, in Marshalltown, Iowa. He removed there last summer. Mr. Ahern was at one time in the service of the government and had lived in Kansas City since coming here from Washington thirty years ago to superintend the construction of the old postoffice building at Ninth and Walnut Streets. He was 60 years old. Five children survive. Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Vincent's Catholic Church, Thirty-first Street and Fiora Avenue. Mass will be said by his son, the Rev. William Ahern of Perryville, Mo. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery.
