Lillian was the daughter of William S. Doyle and Sallie Smith. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee and a teacher in the Knoxville schools when she met August Strohmeyer. They were married and moved to Selma, Alabama, where he was working. In 1921 they moved to Dallas and lived in a home on South Carroll Street. Her funeral service was held at St. Matthew's Cathedral.
