Mrs. Leannah Sophia Mitchell, aged 78 years, died Thursday April 28 at the home of her son Henry Mitchell, R. F. D. 1, Scottsburg, after an illness of five months.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kemple, and originally came from Otisco, Ind. She was a member of the Otisco Methodist church. She had lived in this community about 45 years and had many friends among the older citizens of the county.
Survivors include a son, Henry Mitchell, step-daughter Mrs. Ida Mount of Indianapolis, Ind., a brother U. S. Kemple, Otisco, Ind., and a sister Mrs. Ada Mulcahy, Frankfort, Ky.
The Rev. Grester L. Kemp conducted the funeral services at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon May 1 at the Vest Mortuary. Interment was in Scottsburg cemetery.
Her Brother Dies Following Funeral
Wes Kemple 81, brother of Mrs. Sophia Mitchell, attended the funeral of Mrs. Mitchell and upon his return home he became ill and died of shock.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Dora Kemple, two sons; Harold Kemple at home and Emmett Kemple of Charlestown, a daughter Goldie Pettit of Sellersburg, 8 grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Ada Mulcahy of Frankfort, Ky."
