Wife of John Kilgore Geer. Caroline Rose Schwilke was born 13 April 1887 at Franklin, Nebraska. When a small child her parents moved to Boulder County, Colorado where she spent her childhood. She attended the Lutheran church. Caroline came to Routt county when a young lady and lived there most of the time since. She married Mr. John K. Geer of the pioneering Geer Family, in Steamboat Springs, November 8th, 1911.


When Caroline died on 5 Mar 1931, she was survived by her husband and 4 children; Lucien 16, Ruth 15, Ada 13 and John 9 as well as by her father Jacob; three brothers James, Herman and William and three sisters Mrs. Howard Powell, Mrs. Harry Feets and Mrs. John Pulliam.

The community was deeply shocked and grieved by the sudden and untimely death of Mrs. John Geer on Thursday, March 5, 1931.

Caroline Rose Schuilke was born April 13, 1887, at Franklin, Neb.

When a small child her parents moved to Boulder county where her childhood was spent. She attended the Lutheran church. She came to Routt county when a young lady and has lived here most of the time since. She was married to John K. Geer at Steamboat Springs November 8, 1911.

She is survived by her husband and four children, Lucien 16, Ruth 15, Ada 13 and John 9 : her father, Jacob Schuilke of California; three brothers, James, Herman and William Schuilke, and three sisters, Mrs. Howard Powell, Mrs. Harry Feets and Mrs. John Pulliam. A son, Charles, preceded her in death. He died when 19 months old.

Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church at 2 p. m. by Rev. Parks Sunday afternoon. Beautiful music was furnished by Miss Alfred, Miss Montgomery, Miss Male and Mr. Williams.

Interment was at Yampa cemetery. The pallbearers were Joe and Merwin Montgomery, Lester Easterly, Charles Stark, Philip Stevens and Carey Trantham.

Mrs. Geer was a devoted wife and mother, quiet and reserved, cheerful and uncomplaining, tho never very well. She had a good word for every one, a harsh word for none. The heartfelt sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family. Published in The Steamboat Pilot, March 13, 1931, Page 6.
