DENEY - Mary Edith Botkin Deney was born April 26, 1889 to Lark and Nellie Botkin at Storm Lake, Iowa, and passed away at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1970, after a lingering illness of 6 years.
She was united in marriage to James Odis Deney on June 4, 1906 and to this union 15 children were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother; one daughter, Betty Louise, who died in infancy and one son, Willard; two brothers and one sister.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, James Odis Deney of Chariton; nine daughters and their families; Mrs. Everett (Ollie) Darrah of Centerville; Mrs. Jay (Susie) Oxenreider of Roundup, Mont.; Mrs. Arthur (Iona) Greige of Cashmere, Wash.; Mrs. Ernest (Viola) Sanders of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Thelma Jenkins of Redding, Calif.; Mrs. Russell (LaVeta) Hull of Chariton; Mrs. Roy (Maxine) Wignall of Des Moines; Mrs. John (Leota) Vail of Kodiak, Alaska; and Mrs. John (Gladys) Adcock of Chariton; four sons and their families; Raymond Odis Deney of Sandy, Ore.; Gerald Jr. of Russell; William A. and Robert L., both of Stockton.
She is also survived by 48 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. C. Hook at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, 1970 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
