Mrs. Emma J. Dugan died yesterday afternoon at 3:45 o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Mattern, 310 Newry Street, Gaysport, death being due to diseases incident to old age. She has been a resident of Gaysport for 19 years. Four years ago she fell and injured herself, since which time she has made her home with her daughter. She ate dinner yesterday sitting in a chair, but some time later took suddenly ill and sank quickly to the end. Mrs. Dugan was a daughter of Thomas and Jane Mays, and was born at Osceola Mills on May 20, 1834, but removed with her parents to Tyrone when very young, where she resided for a number of years. She was married to Benjamin Dugan of Muncy, Pa., on Nov. 26, 1856, at Tyrone, her husband preceding her to the grave twenty six years ago. Mrs. Dugan was a woman of many fine qualities, who paid the closest attention to her home duties and was held in the highest esteem by a wide circle of friends. She was a good, Christian woman, who was a life-long member of the Lutheran church. She is survived by seven daughters and two sons, as follows: Mrs. D.C. McCauley and Mrs. George Smith of Altoona, Mrs. A.A. Leonard of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Benson Conrad of Bald Eagle, Joseph Dugan of Newry, Miss Julia Dugan of Gaysport and Mrs. Charles Mattern of Gaysport. The funeral services will be held at her late home on Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will be made at the Lutheran cemetery at Newry.
