Her family will receive friends at Stanly Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM and her funeral will be at 11 AM on Thursday, September 30th, 2010 at Bethany United Methodist Church in Albemarle, NC. Rev. Timothy Whittington will officiate and burial will be in Bethany United Methodist Church's Cemetery.
Born April 18th, 1918 in South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Julius Hampton and Ira Harley Harley.
She was a homemaker and a very devoted member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She loved poetry and music. She also enjoyed singing in her church group at the nursing home when she was in her 80's. She loved growing beautiful flowers and was very proud of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pratt Roland Furr; one son, Walter Bruce Furr; two brothers, John Harley and Julius "Bob" Harley; two sisters, Thyra Herlocker and Juanita Munn; and two grandchildren, Jane Leigh Furr and Kenneth Ronald Furr.
She is survived by two sons, Benny Joel Furr and wife Tempie of Cary, NC and Ronald Van Furr and wife Jeanette of Stanley, NC; three sisters: Maxine Treece, La Donne Hearne, and Sybil Hearne all of New London, NC; seven grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
