Margaret "Mickie" Abernathy of Newnan died September 27, 2010 at Piedmont Newnan Hospital following a long illness. She was a native of Macon, GA and was the daughter of the late James E. "Boots" and Helen Aiken.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Jimmy Aiken. Mickie had been employed by The Emory Clark Holder Clinic in LaGrange as a customer service representative.
She is survived by her husband, John David Abernathy, Sr. of Newnan. Her children are Cyndi Hale and her husband Greg of Ringgold, John Abernathy and his wife Sherri of Roanoke and Laurie Abernathy of Valley, AL. Her grandchildren are Andrew Lee Hale, Nikki Hale of and Autumn Abernathy. Her great-grandchildren are Amanda Hale and Janie Lynn Hale.
Funeral arrangements are by McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan where the family will receive friends on Wednesday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in the McKoon Funeral Home chapel. Entombment will be in Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
