Aledo - Joseph Milton Pierce, 82, of Aledo, died at his home at 1:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon after an illness of several months.

Mr. Pierce was born Jan. 20, 1861, in Champaign county, Ill., a son of William E. and Sarah Pierce. He was married to Miss Emma Race, also of Champaign county, on March 8, 1893. They came to Mercer county in 1904 and he engaged in farming for 23 years before moving to Aledo. Mrs. Pierce died 10 years ago.

Surviving are two sons, John Joseph Pierce, Rock Island, and Wilbur Allen Pierce, New Windsor; a daughter, Mrs. Edna Moore, Viola; two brothers, William E. Pierce, Toledo, Ohio, and Frank Pierce, Walnut, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Belle Johnson, New Bedford, Ill., Mrs. Emma Heller, Bluff City, Kan., Mrs. Rachael Robinson, Rock Falls, Ill., Mrs. Della Strohl, Bement, Ill., and Mrs. Mary Graham, Tampico, Ill.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The body was taken to the Sherrard funeral home in Aledo.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in the Sherrard chapel, Aledo, and burial will be in Aledo cemetery.
