She was born Jan. 20, 1909, in Augusta to the late Amos Dexter Pumpelly and Minnie Drake Pumpelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery Allen Yelton.
She was a former assistant manager of Florida Southern College Bookstore and retired from Florida Southern College after 40 years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Temple of Lakeland, and the Order of Eastern Star and was a Kentucky Colonel.
She is survived by a son, Emery Jay Yelton II and wife, Susan of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter, Betty Mackey of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren, Marianna Mackey McElroy, Susan Yelton DiCesare, Donna Mackey Horan, Drake Mackey and Charles Yelton; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 in the Highland Cemetery in Augusta. The Rev. Michael Sweeney will officiate
