STATESBORO, Ga. - Ms. Hilda Gay, age 78, died Tuesday afternoon, July 27th, 2010, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. The Bulloch County native was a 1948 graduate of Statesboro High School. Ms. Gay moved to Savannah, Georgia, in 1952, where she resided until 1995, returning to Statesboro. While in Savannah, Ms. Gay was employed as an accountant with several firms including 20 years with Diamond Construction. Upon returning to Statesboro, she was employed for several years with Georgia Southern University, serving in several capacities. She was a member of the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Bulloch County. Ms. Gay was preceded in death by her parents, William Chalton Gay and Livvie Akins Gay; and two brothers, Emory Ganelle Gay and Larry Euel Gay.

Surviving are two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Rupert and Belle Gay of Statesboro, Charles Raymond and Alice Marie Gay of Raleigh, N.C., and Marian Gay of Lilburn; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and George H. Donaldson of Statesboro and Carolyn Patricia and William Lester Foss of McIntosh County, Ga. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Upper Mill Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jack Anderson officiating, assisted by Elder W.I. Tidwell Jr.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
