(1888 - 1950)

Oscar Clarence Thompson, 62, of route 1, Valders, died Thursday at the Holy Family hospital following a lingering illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the West Valders Lutheran church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, with military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Mr. Thompson was born in 1888 in town of Liberty and in 1923 married Miss Esther Thesen. They located on a farm in Liberty. He served overseas in World War I. He was a former officer of the Gjerpen-Valders Telephone company and a director of the school board.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mrs. Willard Hulin of Chicago; two sons, Clayton and Kenneth of Liberty; two brothers, Edward of Minneapolis, Tedval of Neenah; eight sisters, Mrs. Oscar Berge of Liberty, Mrs. Annie Anderson, Mrs. H. J. Wierstead, Mrs. A. C. Burke, Mrs. Albert Knopp, Mrs. Al Grant, Mrs. Edward Bently, Mrs. Theodora Knutson, all of Chicago.

Friends may call at the Berge funeral home, Valders, after 1 p.m. Sunday. The casket will be moved to the church at 10 a.m. Monday to lie in state until the hour of services.
