Myrtle Estelle Harris better known as "Miss Essie" was the daughter of Russell Clemons Harris & Mary Ellen Pride. She married George A. Ballenger who was in the real estate business. Their only child Mary Ballinger (Mrs. James Lewis Bryan, Sr.). Their grand children are Dr. Lynne Ballenger Bryan and James Lewis Bryan, Jr. Miss Essie organized the Cordele Symphony Club in 1909, a club that has been very active throughout the years. She was organist for the Cordele First Baptist Church for sixty-five years and on her retirement was given the honor of Organist Emeritus. Cordeleans and others will remember her in having taught piano for many years. She later married Jeff D. Cobb of Cordele.
