DOROTHY MARGARET BRACKENBURY

Dorothy Margaret Brackenbury, 84, of John Day died Aug. 26.
She was born May 15, 1919, in North Hollywood, Calif., to Clifford and Clara (Husted) Grant.
In North Hollywood, Calif., she met and married Edward Vaile Brackenbury. In 1954, she moved to Auburn, Calif. where she and her husband lived for 48 years. She was office administrator for the Placer Union High School District. In 2002, she moved to John Day to be near her daughter, Julia Wenzel, and family.
Mrs. Brackenbury was a member of Eastern Star and the Society of Western Artists, where she served two terms as president. She provided private art lessons for 35 years.
A large painting by Mrs. Brackenbury will be displayed at Valley View Assisted Living in her memory.
Mrs. Brackenbury is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Christine Brackenbury of Palo Alto, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Robert Wenzel of Mt. Vernon; brother, Donald Grant of Auburn, Calif.; five grandchildren, Brian Wenzel, Mike Wenzel, Timothy Wenzel, Andrew Brackenbury and Elizabeth Brackenbury; and two great-grandchildren, Corey Wenzel and Reyan Wenzel.
She was preceded in death by her husband and brother, Franklin Grant.
A memorial service was held at Valley View Assisted Living on Aug. 29. Inurnment will be at New Auburn Cemetery in Auburn, Calif., at a later date.
Autumn Funerals of Redmond was in charge of arrangements.
