Hope Ann Brown Tilley, 46, of Guysville, OH formerly of Alexis died Sept. 22, 2010 at her home.
She was born December 12, 1963 in Rock Island, IL the daughter of John Franklin and Bonnie (McKelvey) Brown. She graduated from Alexis High School in 1981 and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Knox College in 1985 Summa Cum Laude. She received the Faculty Scholarship Prize as the senior selected for exceptional ability in both scholarship and extra curricular pursuits. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Hope later earned a Master's Degree from Yale University and another Master's Degree from Ohio University.
Hope married David C. Tilley at Yale University on March 31, 1987.
She taught classes at Quinnipiac College in Connecticut. She also taught Special Education at a local school in Ohio. She was a member of the Alexis Presbyterian Church and was active in a Bible Study group in Guysville, OH.
Hope loved her dogs and communing with nature. She was a very caring person, always wanting to help others. For a time she operated a pet supply business called, "Daisyfield Supplies".
The many people who loved her will greatly miss her.
She is survived by her mother, Bonnie Brown of Alexis and 4 cousins and a special aunt.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at the Alexis United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Dog Rescue Organization or the donor's choice. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis is in charge of the local arrangements
