Son of Thomas Barnett & Mary Jane (Hiatt) Stanford. Husband of Ida May Krause Brother of Roy, Delbert, Mabel, Ethel, Eva, Mary (Mae), Ada, Blanche and Sadie. Father of Stan.

Fernie, as he was known, loved to do many things, but the things he enjoyed most were fishing and making things from wood. He was extremely good at both. He made his own home as well as others, but enjoyed making wooden furniture more than building houses. He was employed by the City of Milton-Freewater for many years and holding several different jobs, the last being building inspector. He also liked to garden and was 'famous' for his strawberries, radishs, and roses. As soon as a weed appeared a quarter inch above ground, he attacked it. Some weeds didn't even get that far! He was a great guy and enjoyed taking care of his family and friends. He was always protective of his sisters, especially his 'little' sister, Blanche (my Mother).
