Wallace W. Alderson 97, of 1384 N. Henderson St. Galesburg, IL, died at 2:50 AM Monday December 17, 2001 at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg, IL.
He was born on January 16, 1904 in Seymour MO to Samuel L. and Arminda L. (Kunkle) Alderson. He married Dorothy L. Grim in Galesburg on January 17, 1925. She preceded him in death on August 14, 1992.
He is survived by two sons, John (and Mary) Alderson of Peru, IL and Rev. Richard (and Louise) Alderson of San Diego, CA; two daughters, Lois A. Peterson and Nancy (and Harvey) Templeton, both of Galesburg, IL; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. A brother and three grandchildren preceded him in death.
He was a carman for the former C. B. and Q. Railroad for 50 years, retiring in 1969. He was a 67-year member of the First Church of the Nazarene having served as the Sunday School Superintendent for 25 years. He was also a member of the Church Board and a Lay reader.
His funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday December 19, 2001 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ron Scarlet officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Church. Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene.
