Chalin O. Dowell Sr., 76, of 3318 Orange Ave., Fort Pierce, Fla., formerly of Chillicothe, died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 1994, at Clarksville Memorial Hospital in Clarksville, Tenn.
Born Aug. 15, 1918, in Henderson County to Auther and Mable Brown Dowell, he married Virginia Bailey on Jan. 23, 1939, in Burlington, Iowa. She died Jan. 10, 1985. Three daughters and several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, John of Melbourne, Fla., and Chalin Jr. of Chillicothe; and two sisters, Winnie Lefler of Chandler, Ariz., and Vanna Lubke of Warsaw, Mo.
He owned Dowell's Market for many years, retiring in 1986. He was a life member of George Washington Masonic Lodge 222.
Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
