BENJAMIN ELY, West Springfield ..... 1730 - 1802
First Major, Col. Moseley's (Third Hampshire County) Regiment, Feb. 8, 1776; served in Lieut.-Col. Robinson's detachment which re-enforced the army at Ticonderoga, Oct.-Nov., 1776.

He was a man of large influence, prominent in town affairs, representative in the State Legislative, a highly respected and useful citizen.

He married Esther BRACKUS, June 1, 1758 in West Springfield MA. They had eight children: Lois, Esther, Robert, Elihu, Eunice, Benjamin, Elijah, & Eunice.

Note: Buried here according to Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots. Joseph is actually recorded in Elmwood Cemetery, it is maintained by Forestdale Cemetery. It was once on the sight of 1st Baptist Church and is located at 2190 North Hampton Street.
