Alta Alice Bishop Tarver, also known as "Sally", 88, of Tijeras, New Mexico and formerly of the Nugent community in Jones County, Texas, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at her residence in New Mexico. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday at Ft. Phantom Hill Cemetery, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tarver was born May 14, 1922 in Ramah, Colorado to the late William Henry and Susie Mae Bishop. She retired from the Ampex Corporation in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Mrs. Tarver moved to Texas in 1989 and had lived in Nugent for the past ten years until recently moving to New Mexico.
Survivors include three daughters and their families, Le and Ray Theissen of Dekalb, Illinois, Linda and Sam Smith of Arizona and Karen and David Davis of Nugent; grandchildren and their families, Lorena Walker and Patty Williams, Lara and Jim Keithley, T.J. Davis, Amy and Scotty Allen, Cory Carpenter, Misty Davis, Ashley Davis and Richard Kidd; great grandchildren, Dylan Ozier, Derek Hague, Teri Linn Lucas, Cassey Davis, Nicholas Davis, Derrick Nichols, Tristin Allen and Caden Guadalcazar; and great-great grandchildren, Deagan and Bryson Nichols.
Mrs. Tarver was preceded in death by a grandson, Buzzy.
