RUSSELL ADDISON WHITELEY, son of Nancy and Henry Whiteley, was born Dec 9, 1908 at Sewel, Wayne County, Iowa and moved to Corydon when he was nine months old. He spent the remainder of his life in Corydon. He passed away at the Wayne County Hospital on Aug 10 1971.
In 1935 he was married to Hazel Knapp of Allerton Iowa. Hazel and Russell were the parents of two children, Jean Ann Wilson and James R. Whiteley. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Merle McClain of Allerton and Mrs. Nell McIntire of Buhl, Idaho and one brother Marshall, of Corydon. He was preceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray.
He was a member of the Methodist Church from an early age and was a supporter of the church.

He had many interests, the first of which was his home and family, as well as work and he spent 42 years on the square in Corydon. He was also an enthusiastic supporter of all sports, both local and State and National and attended sporting events whenever possible and thoroughly enjoyed them. He encouraged his children and grandchildren toto be active in sports along with other interests in life.

Funeral Services were held from the Wolf Funeral Home on Thursday August 12 1971 at 2 p.m. Honorary pall bearers were Karl LeCompe, Elmer Grismore, Lloyd Nelson, O. K. Engene, Kenneth Keller and Dennis Murphy. Active pallbearers were Charles Dresser, Raymond Cox, Jay Milner, Kenneth Dunca, Guy Jack and Bill Barnard. Interment was in Corydon Cemetery.
