Born in Cuero Texas and raised in Seguin Texas, Aileen was the third child and eldest daughter of HG. and Annie Marie Dooley Wood.

The family moved to Coronado California in 1812, when Aileen was 16 years old, then San Diego in 1914 at age 18. With a large family in a small house, Aileen was anxious to move on and make her own life.
In October 1918, at the age of 22, she married Charles Kneeland Jackson II, 39 years of age and a divorcee from two previous marriages. He was a journalist/correspondent for the San Diego Union Newspaper. They lived at the posh new U.S. Grant Hotel living the high social life until their first child, America Jackson (namesake of family friend, Mrs. U. S. Grant Jr.) arrrived on 20 JUN 1919. The journalistic lifestyle kept Charlie coming and going much of the time. Aileen and baby America lived alternately in Tent City, Coronado in the summer months, and with her parents off and on until she established herself in her own home. Two more children blessed this union. Bud Jackson and Anne Marie Jackson.

"Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kneeland Jackson and daughter, little Miss America Jackson, who have been spending the past several months at Tent City, will move back to San Diego about May 1 and occupy their new home on Granada Street, in the artistocratic Mission Hills section. Mr. Jackson, who is a topnotch newspaper man, has been president of the Playground Commission In San Diego for the past couple of years, but resigned this week. Mrs. Jackson was Miss Aileen Wood before her marriage."
Life was hard as Charlie's job situation deteriorated. The family moved to Long Beach CA, where Charlie took a job in the advertising department of the Long Beach Pike. The marriage also deteriorated and Aileen took the kids back home to live with her parents until she found a home of her own. Charlie then joined the Merchant Marine. He kept contact with his children, but all relations between Aileen and himself were permanently severed.
Charlie died sometime after the census date in 1940 where we find him living in New York. Occupation: bedroom steward on ocean going liners.
