Mr. Barfield, son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Beatrice Nipper Barfield, was born in Emerick, GA. He was a U. S. Army Veteran serving for twenty-seven years during World War II and the Korean Conflict as Sgt. 1st Class. Mr. Barfield lived in Turner County for many years before moving to Macon and was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was the brother of the late L. T. Barfield, Richard Barfield and Frances Hillard.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-three years whom he met in Germany, Johanna Reichert Barfield of Macon; his children, Benjamin F. Barfield, III, Robert A. (Maria) Barfield, Thomas E. Barfield, Judy J. Barfield and Samuel R. Barfield, all of Macon; four grandchildren, Vanessa Barfield, Christina M. Barfield, Samuel R. Barfield, Jr. and Jessica M. Barfield; brothers, Samuel B. (Gussie) Barfield and John Barfield; sister, Sue (Elma) Hobby; numerous nieces and nephews.
