Ex-railroader, Former Wichitan, Dies at His Home
George H. Gower, 66, El Dorado, Kan., resident since 1930, died Thursday in his home.
He moved to El Dorado from Wichita, where he had resided since 1919. He worked for the a Missouri Pacific Railroad for 32 years and retired in 1952.
He was born Sept. 10, 1891, in Marshfield, Mo. He married Lottie M. Biddle June 20, 1920, in Wichita. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of Fred Priestley Post of VFW. He also belonged to the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Mrs. Clara E. Blackmore, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, George H. Gower Jr., Valley Center, and Ernest D., El Dorado; and eight, grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Kirby Funeral Home, El Dorado. C. A. Hildebrand, pastor of First Christian Church, El Dorado, will officiate.
Burial will be in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Graveside Military rites will be conducted by the VFW.
