On September 21, 2010 Irma C. Janvier lost her struggle with dementia and Parkinson's disease. Irma was surrounded by her loving family who was there to love, honor and say goodbye. Irma was a strong, opinionated, much loved mom to many, who raised six children by herself. She had an indomitable spirit and loved activities where family gathered, particularly on holidays where food was always the center of the celebration.
Irma was a bookkeeper for Janvier Jewelers. Prior to that she worked for Pack and Processing in Wilmington.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Skelly and her husband, Jerry of Newark, DE; her sons, Harvey Lee Janvier Jr., and his wife, Darlene of Middletown, DE, Edward Janvier and his wife, Kathy of Hockessin, DE, Steven Janvier and his wife, Jane of Newark, DE, Joseph Janvier and his wife, Denise and Eric Janvier, all of Middletown, DE, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her brother, Frank Cernos and his wife, Josephine of NC, and her sister in law, Reiko Cernos of NC. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Lee Janvier, Sr., and her brother, Danny Cernos.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 27 at 10:30 am at St. Matthew Church, 901 E. Newport Pike, Woodcrest. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave., Wilmington. Friends may call at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek on Sunday, September 26 from 3-5 pm.
The family would like to thank the nurses and patient care aides of the Manor Care Arcadia Unit for their service to Mom, especially during the tough times.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to Manor Care Arcadia Alzheimer's Unit, 5651 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808 to benefit the activities that directly affect patients enrichment.
