George married Helen Pauline Frye on December 28, 1940, at her parent's home in Waterloo, Iowa. George worked for Rath Packing for 39 years until retiring in 1978. He and Helen were members of Grace United Methodist Church for many years, until its closing. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local #46, was a fan of the New York Yankees, and enjoyed many bus tours with Helen.
George Gilbert, age 93, passed away on Saturday; September 18, 2010 at his home in Waterloo, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Helen Gilbert. His son: Terry (Doris) Gilbert of Hudson, Iowa. His daughter: Patricia Bauer of Denver, Iowa. His sister in law: Wilma Gilbert of Waterloo, Iowa. His four grandchildren: Brett Gilbert, Brock Gilbert, Jeff Bauer and Stacie (Tim) Hartman. Also his four great grandchildren: Riley Gilbert, Reece Gilbert, Joel Hartman, and Hannah Hartman. George was preceded in death by his parents, his brother: Burton Gilbert, and his sister Dorothy Gilbert. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn.
